About us and our funders
This project is funded by OCS ( The Office For Civil Society)and DCLG (The Department for Communities and Local Government) via The Community Organisers Company, and supported by Full Circle Project, Malcolm X Centre, The St. Paul’s Adventure Playground Management Committee and Community CoLab.
Between January and June 2016, this project will run a series of training sessions in Community Organising, Community Rights and The Art of Participatory Leadership free of charge for the community in St. Paul’s.
This project will explore the different opportunities available to communities across England as part of the Localism Act 2009 and provide training and support to people keen to use this powers to make a difference in the area and have more of a say on what happens to local land and buildings, how services are run so they meet local needs and the development of the local area through neighbourhood planning and building for the community.
As part of the project, there will also be some funding available to pay for expert legal/advice to support participants who have concrete ideas to use any of the Community Rights os to use Neighbourhood Planning and we will explore the creation of a St. Paul’s People’s Forum using some of the skills learned by participants through the project.
